BODYSHOP BODYMAN
A bodyshop bodyman is responsible for repairing and restoring damaged vehicle bodies to their original condition. This includes tasks such as repairing dents, straightening frames, replacing panels, and applying paint to match the existing color. The bodyman must have a keen eye for detail to ensure the finished product meets quality standards.
Key responsibilities:
1. Inspect vehicles to assess the extent of damage and determine the best course of action for repair.
2. Perform bodywork repairs, including dent removal, panel replacement, and frame straightening.
3. Align and fit body panels to ensure a seamless finish.
4. Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, priming, and masking off areas not to be painted.
5. Apply paint using spray guns and ensure an even and smooth finish.
6. Blend paint colors to match the existing color of the vehicle.
7. Work efficiently to meet deadlines and ensure customer satisfaction.
8. Keep tools and equipment properly maintained and in good working order.
9. Collaborate with other technicians and team members to complete repairs as needed.
10. Adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
Requirements:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Certification or training in auto body repair preferred.
3. Proven experience as a bodyman in a bodyshop or auto repair shop.
4. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
5. Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
6. Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
7. Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor tasks.
8. Knowledge of automotive repair techniques, tools, and equipment.
9. Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in the automotive industry.
